Hello, AIAM Business Community,

Many will say we should never wish time away but for me personally, 2020 will not be over soon enough. It has without a doubt been a year none of us will ever forget. Even though something magical will not occur on January 1st I truly have confidence that hope is on the horizon.

The tragic loss of life families experienced during the year has been unimaginable.  Our hearts and prayers are with those who have suffered as a result of COVID-19. The news of vaccines beginning to hit the market is certainly a bright spot through all of the darkness. Thankfully the science and medical community have worked tirelessly and given sacrificially to provide a way forward for the entire world.

This turbulent situation has certainly put the business community to the test as well. However, Michigan has proven to be resilient through the most challenging conditions of cyclical industries and economic downturns.  In fact, we historically have returned stronger and better than ever after facing a challenge. The post-COVID-19 recovery will be no different. This is one of the many reasons I believe in our ability to persevere and am so proud to call Michigan my home.

Despite all of 2020’s difficulties, there are so many reasons we have to be grateful. First, I am extremely thankful for the country where we live and work. Second, despite the uncertain business conditions AIAM welcomed nearly 30 new members to the organization in 2020. This underscores the need and benefit of being connected to a strong network and community now more than ever. It is the heart and soul of why we do what we do.  Together, we are building a community of like-minded business leaders who understand and value what we can accomplish when we are united. I have personally seen the results of what happens when people approach the relationship with an attitude of, “what can I do for you?” as opposed to, “what’s in it for me?”

As 2020 comes to a close I would like to thank everyone who has stood by us and contributed to our mission to increase the awareness of the aerospace industry in Michigan. We have several exciting things in the works that you will hear more about in the new year. Until then I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and blessings in the New Year!

Sincerely,

Tony
