It is hard to believe we are getting ready to close out 2019! As I look back on what has been another incredible year, it simply would not be possible without a lot of effort and teamwork. When I hear people refer to someone as “self-made” the first thing that comes to mind is that’s simply impossible. None of us would be where we are in life without a countless number of family, friends and coworkers helping us along the way. AIAM is no exception.
First, we are extremely fortunate to have such a tremendous hard-working board of directors. This group of individuals have supported our mission from day-one financially in addition to working together to develop a vision and strategy. We meet nearly every month in person or by phone making sure AIAM stays true to our mission. The board will hold our annual strategic offsite meeting in January to evaluate the progress to date and determine where changes are needed to improve performance and increase value for our members.
Our members continue to amaze me with their enthusiasm and support. In the fall we were approached by several members who stepped forward to see what they could do to get more involved and provide additional support. This has evolved into the AIAM Ambassador program that is currently in the early stages of development. Every member has been assigned to an Ambassador. You will hear more about the program in Q1 of 2020 and your Ambassador will be reaching out soon to set up a visit and/or discussion. We are very excited about the program and have received great feedback so far. It will play an important role to ensure AIAM is driven by the members and governed by the board. This will also facilitate building relationships and uniting us as a community to strengthen one another.
I hope you will enjoy reading this quarter’s newsletter. In it you will read about Talent, Technology and Government. Those have been the focal points of AIAM over the past three months. Included in the newsletter is 1) a recap of our talent survey where we identify the talent needs and opportunities of the aerospace industry, 2) a summary and pictures of our first technology expo hosted at the University of Michigan, and 3) an overview of our most recent legislative day where we raised the awareness of Michigan’s aerospace industry with our elected officials.
As always, be sure to check out member highlights to learn more about what AIAM members are doing in our great state and their plans for the future.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for another great year. Please be sure to take time with your family and friends to pause and give thanks for all of the many blessings. On behalf of AIAM and our board of directors we wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
See you in 2020!
